So I don't mind my A7R4 switching to APSC mode for longer reach and smaller RAW file size. 24MP Raw files are much faster to process, than the 60MP. If you are looking for 24MP and High Frame Rate. The frame rate limit doesn’t matter for us since our cameras don’t shoot that fast, but if I get a secondhand A9/II I’d love if it worked with the Tamron at 20 fps.Īgree. I have that same A7RIV/150-500 combo as well. TBH it usually degrades more than benefits. I have to say that the benefits of TC is literally none when youre using a camera like A7R4. You can always use a TC with 70-200gm in OP's topic. The 70-180 is indeed a first party lens for Nikon, though its licensed from Tamron, raised price, and weakened the motor from VXD to normal STM. I really don't need High frame rate, as 10 fps is already producing far too many RAW files for my post processing. The only limitation Sony has created is the TC. My Tamron 150-500mm works great on my A7R4, and is much lighter than the Sony 200-600mm. I am also frustrated for a long time now due to the limitation of TC. The 3rd parties don't mind as long as Sony users are willing to buy their lenses. Sony is protecting their own lens line up, by limiting the 3rd parties. If they trickle down that AF tech into Z5/6/7 level bodies they might reclaim that second place spot if Sony isn’t careful. Right now Nikon’s aggressive moves are good for Nikon owners but not really moving the needle since their bodies with competitive autofocus are too expensive (and big, imo). I think Sony having a variety of third party options is great but they need to remove the artificial limitations and allow for teleconverters and high frame rates for third party lenses.
